Meloy Soendre Free Church

We are a church uniquely located in three communities in southern Meloy region: Aagskardet, Halsa and Engvaagen. We belonging to the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church of Norway, and also work closely with other churches in our communities. Our history goes way back until 1891, and is well known in our local communities. Being located in three different places also allows for individual differences, as the congregation mainly is focused on services close to home. Linked up with our denomination’s missions projects, the church is involved in various ministries abroad.

Our motto is: Knowing Jesus and making Him known throughout our communities. Weekly, people of all ages meet and share fellowship. You will experience engaged people in various services such as in music, in the kitchen, in Sunday school, Youth events, in technical assignments, washing, and devotions & prayer service etc. 

Being part of a church is to serve one another with the gifts God has given us. This is how the congregation may become like a large family. You are heartily welcome in our communities.

The church is to a great extent run by voluntary peoples in various ministries. We have also two people employed: A youth worker in 50% position and pastor in 75% position.

Services and small groups

The worship service on Sunday is our main meetings, located every second time at Halsa or Engavaagen, and once a month in AAgskardet. It is usually 11.am. We also have small-groups for fellowship and growth in the different villages.

Monday is prayer meetings at 7 pm. We also arrange senior gatherings the first week of the month; these are open for all ages. There are fellowships for parents with infants, inspirational gatherings and different arrangements for youth and children. Please check out our calendar for more information.

During our Sunday worship service, we may provide English translation. Ask the deacon who welcomes you if you can listen through wireless headphones or preferably call in advance.
